Professional Career Internship (PCI) is a career and technical education course designed to provide opportunities for students to explore their career choice that require additional degrees to certification following high school.

Course Description

The emphasis of the experience is on applying skills developed through instruction and on learning new career competencies at the internship site.

The internship is considered a high school capstone experience. This is a structured experience.

A training agreement will be utilized outlining expectations of all parties.

Internships may be paid or unpaid and must include a classroom component.

Conditions

This program is open to Juniors and Seniors. Students will receive four credits over two semesters.

A minimum of 140 hours of workplace experience and 30 hours classroom activities are required per semester.

Internship placement must match career interest.

This is a Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, and Core 40 with Technical Honors diploma elective and directed elective course.
